Featured Artist Show with Fernando da Silva

Carolina Fine Art is pleased to present our June Featured Artist Show with Fernando da Silva. Born in Uruguay, Fernando and his Portuguese immigrant parents lived on a farm in the Montevideo countryside until the age of seven. Now living in Charlotte, NC, Fernando and his Unsung Cities will be featured throughout the month of June at Carolina Fine Art.

Through his Unsung Cities series, Fernando invites viewers to step into these spaces and experience the pulse of unseen lives within. Inspired by the winding alleys of Alfama, Portugal, and the layered streets of Spain, his   work reimagines cityscapes that exist somewhere between memory and invention.

His work explores the layered beauty and tension of urban life through rough-hewn houses, stacked buildings, and serpentine stairways that seem to lead to nowhere and everywhere all at once. By merging contemporary and traditional techniques with influences of Impressionism and Synthetism, Fernando…
