Babette is a painter and jewelry artisan.  She grew up in the historic Hudson Valley of upstate New York and moved to Charlotte in 1980.  At a young age she had her first lessons as an artisan from her grandmother, a master seamstress who created glamorous ball gowns in the 1950s and 60s.  Her lifetime travels, especially time spent in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, the Teton Mountains of Wyoming, and the medieval village of Hall near Innsbruck, Austria, have inspired a deep affinity for majestic natural beauty, ancient architecture and vintage objects.

In her paintings, Babette uses oil and cold wax to create richly textured abstract landscapes and geometric abstracts.  In her jewelry, she creates pieces from vintage jewelry elements with semi-precious stones and crystal.

Babette has studied painting in workshops with many nationally known artists.  Babette has also studied metalsmithing, enameling and forging at the Penland School of Craft in Penland, North Carolina.

Babette is an attorney, a financial services risk management executive and a veteran who served as a military intelligence officer in the US Army. She lives in Charlotte with her two children.
