Brad Smith

Brad Smith was born in Hartford, Connecticut, and began blowing glass in 1998 at Bucks Rock performing and visual arts camp in New Milford, CT.


Brad studied glassblowing at Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, NM, and later at the Appalachian Center for Craft in Smithville, TN. He has also studied at Pilchuck Glass School, Urban Glass, Haystack Mountain school of crafts, the Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass.


Brad earned his BFA in glass at the Appalachian center for Craft, part of Tennessee Technological University.


Brad lived and worked in Santa Fe, NM, for several years and then relocated to Asheville, NC, to continue his career. 


In 2019, Brad completed construction of his own hot glass studio in Asheville. His pieces are all made from his home studio, using all American-made tools and supplies, many of which are manufactured in Western North Carolina. 


He lives and works in Asheville with his wife Kendall White, a fiber artist, and their two children.
